KEVIN ZENTNER
Business Alumni Association
Transitioning from the academic environment to industry is difficult under normal circumstances, but in these enigmatic times, is normal even relevant? A 2020 graduate from the University of Alberta Bachelor of Commerce, Certificate in Leadership, and Certificate in Sustainability programs, Kevin Zentner is now a Presales Specialist for Canada’s largest general contractor, PCL Construction. Joining PCL several months before the global COVID-19 pandemic began as a Student Business Analyst, Kevin’s career is built on navigating ambiguity through simplifying processes, accelerating decision-making, and expediting product development.
Coming from a failed attempt at post-secondary education and 10-year career in retail and credit management, Kevin’s goal to maximize his time at the University of Alberta has provided considerable financial and leadership compensation. Paying it forward through hiring Alberta School of Business students whenever possible, providing mentorship to current students, and designing programming for alumni through the Business Alumni Association, Kevin is passionate about building smart and successful graduates.
KRISTEL OWENS
Business Alumni Association
Kristel Owens’ career began in sales and entrepreneurship; over seven years, a small sales team transitioned to an independent company, and a single rental property became a diverse real estate portfolio. Seeking a purpose-driven career, Kristel’s interest in corporate responsibility led to her pursuit of a UAlberta BCom (’15) and MBA (’16). Focusing on corporate social responsibility and sustainability, she achieved certificates in Global Citizenship and Community Engagement & Service-Learning. Post-graduation, Kristel worked with the Alberta School of Business’ Masters Programs Office, first in Employer Relations and then as Director of Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing. Passionate about the UAlberta community, she has volunteered with the BAA since 2016; formerly Co-Chair of Mentorship and Student Engagement committees, she now serves as President and has connected with alumni globally. Kristel continues to prioritize passion; she relocated to Calgary for a contract with RBC as the Regional Manager of Citizenship and Social Impact. Her contract concluded during the height of the pandemic and led to her current dream job as a Client Success Manager at Benevity, where she works with some of the world's most iconic brands who also share a commitment to doing well by doing good.
