Colleen Macdonald
Hi everyone! My name is Colleen Macdonald, and I’m a fourth-year Finance student at the University of Alberta. Saying yes to an executive position on the RMBS team was one of the easiest decisions I’ve ever made. I attended RMBS for the first time last year and had an unforgettable experience. Looking back, the conference transformed my confidence far more than I could have imagined while helping me build lifelong friendships and professional connections. Outside of school and RMBS, you can usually find me out on the golf course or going for a run. I am honored to help create that same transformative experience for this year's delegates. RMBS is truly a week to remember, and I am so grateful to be part of making that impact happen.
What is your favourite aspect of RMBS?
My favorite aspect of RMBS is that your experience is entirely what you make of it. What you put into the conference directly shapes what you get out of it, whether that's showing up with high energy, stepping out of your comfort zone, or building genuine connections. Beyond that, I love the pitch competition. Being paired with complete strangers, taking risks together, and relying on each other under pressure creates an incredible, instant sense of community.
What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for the uncertainty of life. As stressful as it can be sometimes, it is the ultimate driver of success, friendship, and curiosity. When nothing is guaranteed, every choice becomes an opportunity to grow, adapt, and push past our perceived limits. Embracing the unknown forces us to rely on one another, creating deep, authentic bonds forged through shared challenges. It transforms everyday moments into chances for exploration and keeps us asking better questions about what comes next. Without unpredictability, life would lack the spark that turns ordinary efforts into extraordinary milestones.
