Marvin Washington is an associate professor in the Alberta School of Business. Dr. Washington’s research, consulting, and teaching focus is on processes of organizational and institutional change. He has published more than 40 articles, made more than 40 conference presentations and is the author of two books on leadership and organizational change: Pack Leadership: Lessons from the Wild Dogs of Africa (with Stephen Hacker at Quality Press), and Successful Organizational Transformation: The Five Critical Elements (with Stephen Hacker and Marla Hacker at Business Expert Press). 


His primary teaching responsibilities are with the capstone MBA course in Business Policy.  Dr. Washington also teaches course on organizational change and leadership in numerous Executive Education Programs at the University of Alberta, in the Executive MBA program, and the Masters of Finance program.  Dr. Washington has worked with a variety of organizations such as Bayer, Core Mark, Stantec, Enbridge, AIMCo, Blue Cross, and the Forzani Group (SportChek).  Recently, Dr. Washington was a Featured speaker at the Oxford conference on Scandals (September 2015),  key note speaker for the Edmonton Police Service (June, 2014), Alberta Professional Engineers and Geologists Association (APEGA June, 2014),Government of Alberta Annual Leadership conference (December, 2013), Stantec Marketing Managers’ Annual Meeting (December 2013),  American Society of Quality’s Annual convention (June, 2012), a featured speaker at the Annual meeting for Government of Alberta Infrastructure Ministry (February, 2013), a guest speaker at the Edmonton Chapter of the American Society of Quality (November, 2011), and a guest speaker at the Annual Quality manager’s meeting for Enbridge (July, 2012).

Dr. Washington is the Academic Director for the Alberta Health Services Senior Leadership Development Program. Marvin has a long-standing engagement with Anahuac University in Mexico where he is a part of their CEO academy. Dr. Washington has worked with the government leaders of the Country of Botswana since 1999 and the State of Oregon since 2009. Prior to life in Academia, Marvin was an operation’s manager for Procter and Gamble where he was responsible for Zest Bar Soap.
